Pittsburgh Organ Academy

Application and Audition Dates

Application deadlines and audition dates for the 2012-13 academic year are as follows:

Application Deadlines:

• All applications must be submitted and available to the committee by 11-May-2012

Auditions:

• Level I and Level II - Saturday 19-May-2012 at Riverview Presbyterian Church, 3505 Perrysville Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15214

• Level III and Level IV - Should be submitted on cassette tape with application.

Awards:

• All applicants will be notified in writing of the POA Committee decisions by 1-Jun-2012.

• All awardees will:
  • Receive a student membership in the PIttsburgh Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, including a subscription to The American Organist magazine.
  • Enjoy complimentary admission to all monthly meetings including free dinner.
  • Be given season tickets for the Organ Artists Series of Pittsburgh.
  • Be elligible to perform at a regular monthly meetings
• A maximum of 3 students may be chosen for Level I and Level II. These students will receive:
  • Sixteen 45-minute lessons (taught on a pipe organ) from September to May with an organ teacher chosen by the Pittsburgh Organ academy.

• A maximum of 3 students may be chosen for Level III and Level IV - SThese students will receive:
  • Twenty-four 45-minute lessons (taught on a pipe organ) from September to May with an organ teacher chosen by the Pittsburgh Organ academy.
  • Possible financial assistance (subject to the committee's discretion and the availability of funding) to attend a Pipe Organ Encounter (POE), a regional summer organ music institute sponsored by the American Guild of Organists.

Award Announcements:

All applicants will be notified in writing of the POA Committee decisions by 1-Jun-2012.

Next Scholarship Funding Cycle:

Dates for the next POA award year will be set shortly after the end of the above season. They will likely be set to be in a similar timeline as the current dates.
