Recent Events - 24-Feb-2008 - Organ Artists Series Concert featuring Scott Montgomery, AGO 2006 National Young Artists Competition Winner, in concert at Heinz Memorial Chapel on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh.
Scott arrived on Friday and true to organist form took off his street shoes so he could put on the organ shoes and get to the console.
Jacket hung up quickly on the pew.....
He got right to practicing and setting up registrations.
Saturday meant lots of coffee in the morning and a lot of time at the console. |
|
The trusty MIDI device, pictured on the bench above, came in handy for Scott to go back out into the Chapel and hear his registrations interact with the space.
After some critical listening, it was time to make some
corrections to registration to make the effect just right.
There was time for dinner and a chat with the AGO Chapter Dean, Donald K. Fellows
And of course, there was more practice, alone in the stately beauty of the Chapel.
The day of the concert was a crisp, clear February day. Great for going out. |
Scott thought so and took a quick walk to catch some air. |
And lots of concert patrons thought so too! About 130 of them! |
The time arrived, Scott did some final checks.....
Folks opened their programs and the concert began!
During intermission, folks were busy downstairs finalizing reception details, while upstairs folks took a short break.
Scott worked up a sweat during the first half. He needed to take off his coat to finish!
He added some great commentary that everyone enjoyed.
Earning several bows and an encore!
Folks had a great time at the reception, and Scott was really engaging with everyone.

Quite a few people parted with some money for a Montgomery CD!
Eventually things came to and end....
And cleanup was done...
Which allowed Scott some time to get out to relax....
And catch up with an old friend. A well deserved rest after a great day!
